Since I’m droppin the Where’s Cool? newsletter hustle on you during this crazy-ass time of year I’ve decided to spare you the holiday puns. Nobody needs to see another lame Yule joke. So you can read it without rolling your eyes, which is harmful to your health and also will take your attention away from the awesomeness that is to come.
NEW USERS
For signing up to Where’s Cool? you have just become one of the baddest most rad people on earth. Honestly tell your friends and they will be like “holy shit, I’ve never even heard of that site, it must be really cool.” And it is. You can now take pride in how awesome you are for being a part of it.
Consider yourself part of an exclusive club because ain’t nobody know ‘bout this site yet. As you may have figured we need some cool new folks and chillin new spots to add to the site. Since Where’s Cool? is built by one person this has gotta be a group effort. Don’t be shy, add some stuff and tell some friends (hint: you could even forward them this email).
Oh and big ups to our top users, keep rackin up those Karma Points.
HAPPY NEW YEARS ++ PHOTO KARMA POINTS!!
As those that know me are aware of, I am a big advocate of New Years Eve debauchery. If you go somewhere cool for New Years*, take some pics of the spots you went and put em up on the site. If you take a photo with the letters “WC” or “WheresCool.com” written on a piece of paper I will give you 8 Karma points (just shoot me an email to let me know). Only rule is that the spot or neighborhood you are at must be visible in the background.
If you use some other much more creative method (IE: written in glitter on cardboard, knitted into a cool scarf, drawn on someone’s face in marker, spelled out in lighter fluid on pavement and lit on fire, etc) I will give you a LOT of Karma points depending on how creative I think it is. Bargain with me.
*I may keep this going forever, not just for New Years.
LOCAL SHAKEDOWN
Where’s Cool? needs stuff in your area. Even our biggest city (Los Angeles) is still really empty considering how many cool spots are out there. [If you live in LA, I’ve even created a master list of potential places to be added.].
If you can take a sec to think about all the cheap, cool, underground, authentic places you think people from out of town would dig the most in your area, you’ll notice the list is longer than you would imagine. What are your top spots? Are they on the site yet? No? Then get to it.
BUT UH ITS ABOUT TRAVEL
Ok, yea on top of playing up local a second ago - can you think of the last awesome hotel you stayed it? Maybe a really chill hostel somewhere? Got it? Ok, now go on www.wherescool.com and add it right now. I dare you. Are you too chicken to add a hotel to the site? I thought not.

Where’s Cool? is totally viral. To spread the love, you gotta post up some links for friends. If you can post a link on your Facebook, MySpace, Tumblr, Twitter etc (yes that’s right please Tumblr away) please do it right now. Lets get some friends in on the scene.

I’m working on a bunch of new features including being able to edit your reviews, comments and some more ways to get and see your Karma. 2009 is gonna be the shit.
